The National Archives of the United Arab Emirates organized a brainstorming session with the objective of continuing its high performance. The session followed the external field assessment of the archives as per European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). The session aimed at presenting the National Archives’ full-scale readiness to obtain the certificate of "Recognized for Excellence", and the session reached a set of development initiatives for the next stage.

The session, which ran for two consecutive days in St. Regis Hotel Abu Dhabi, presented the accomplishments, points of strengths and improvement opportunities in the National Archives, and its strategy, its operation, and set forth a vision for its future activities in the context of achieving Abu Dhabi Vision. The National Archives organized this brainstorming session as it considered it an important part of corporate performance, and one of the most important methods and sophisticated tools for planning, in which it revised some details of the current and future challenges in the field of excellence on preserving the memory of the nation.

From this brainstorming session, the National Archives looks forward to follow-up efforts to be the first archives in the world to adopt the standards of excellence. The National Archives strives to follow the approach outlined by the wise leadership in excellence and competition challenges, in order to build a corporate culture that seeks to achieve excellence, in line with the UAE Vision 2021 to be among the best countries in the world by that year.

The session has reviewed the nine standards of excellence in accordance with the EFQM model; they are Leadership, Strategy, Staff Members, Partnerships and Resources, Processes, Services and Products, Staff Members Results, Customers Results, Outreach Results, Business Results, and the Most Important Points of Strengths and Improvement Opportunities for each standard. It was decided to include the results of the brainstorming session and its recommendations within the framework of the plans for the future, as they are based on matters that are vital in achieving the objectives of the National Archives.

It is noteworthy that the leaders within the National Archives, and those who are involved in strategic planning and development, have followed the pivots of the brainstorming session.
