After receiving 3500 documentary films about Sheikh Zayed The National Archives Receives the Digital Copies of the Original Films from Abu Dhabi Media

After the Abu Dhabi Media Company received 3500 original copies of the documentaries about the founding leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to the National Archives, the NA received the electronic versions of those original films from Abu Dhabi Media, which document the various aspects of the life of the late Sheikh Zayed. The digital copies of the documentaries are important as they serve as a backup and provide easy and accurate access to valuable content. They are a crucial addition to the archives of the NA.

Regarding the receipt of the digital documentaries from Abu Dhabi Media to the National Archives, the Director General of the NA, HE Dr. Abdulla El Reyes said, “This constructive cooperation comes in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Archives, as he considers preserving documents for future generations an important feature of the sovereignty and progress for the UAE.”

HE added that since men are remembered for their good deeds, the achievements of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan bear witness to his diligence and quest to build a prosperous nation. He noted that it is the NA’s duty to preserve these documentaries, which provide lessons learned from Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan’s devotion, contribution, leadership and nation building. Thus, the future generations will benefit from it and they will remain as evidences of the glorious past of the United Arab Emirates.

HE expressed his wish that other media and national organizations, which hold important archives of the UAE and the Gulf region, would follow the example of Abu Dhabi Media in its cooperation with the NA, which has the resources to provide the proper environment to preserve the memory of the nation. These archives are priceless as they promote the national identity and serve as a unique and useful reference to the researchers and decision makers. His Excellency commended the agreement that the NA signed with Abu Dhabi Media, and extended his thanks to the company for its ongoing and positive cooperation. HE Mohammed Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Media Board of Directors and Managing Director said, “The founding father Sheikh Zayed is well recognized as a great icon of thought, culture, leadership, wisdom and contributions. These films constitute a precious legacy that must be preserved for future generations. In addition, we are proud to work with the National Archives in providing and preserving these national documents as they reflect the unique farfetched vision of the late Sheikh Zayed, which his sons adopted, to lay down current and future policies that contribute in putting UAE among the developed world.”

The Abu Dhabi Media Company will transfer a large number of documentary films remaining in its possession to the National Archives. The digital version of the documentaries that the National Archives has received was saved on 3500 XDCAM discs, which are known for their large capacity, quality and suitability, preserving them in the archives for the long term.
