The National Archives Contributes to the Sharjah Teachers’ Association with a Patriotic Lecture and Photo Exhibition

The National Archives of the United Arab Emirates participated in the initiative of One Nation, One City which the Sharjah Teachers’ Association organized. The participation came in the form of a lecture titled “The Three Islands, A Proven Emirati Right” and an exhibition of historic photos of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The NA also displayed the its most outstanding publications which documents the history and heritage of the UAE and the Gulf region.

Regarding the NA’s participation, HE Majid Al Mehairi, Executive Director of the National Archives, said that our participation comes out of our attention to those who are in charge of national education for generations of students. Abdul Latif Al Sayadi, a researcher at the Regional Center for Educational Planning – Under the Auspices of UNESCO, delivered the lecture. It dealt with the historic background of the islands, UAE’s sovereignty rights and the provisions of the international law supporting Emirati grounds; therefore, educational leaders and specialists who are in direct contact with students enhance their geographical, legal and historical understanding of this vital national cause.

The lecture reviewed the historical facts and the legal evidence upon which the UAE depends to prove its ownership of the three occupied islands: Abu Musa, and The Greater and Lesser Tunbs reinforcing his evidence with dozens of historical documents and provisions of the international law.

The lecture concluded with the prospects of the resolving the conflict over the islands proving with historical documents and the provisions of the international law the substantial evidence held by the UAE to justify and uphold its firm ownership of three occupied islands and to ensure a ruling to its advantage if the dispute was referred to international court.

The photo exhibition, which was held at the Regional Center for Educational Planning – Under the Auspices of UNESCO, displayed dozens of photographs that depict various aspects of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan while working hard to establish the UAE and make it prosper. The exhibition also showed photos of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan while at work to advance the UAE, which holds an outstanding world position.
