The National Archives Provides Its Library with Valuable Collection of Specialized and Scientific Publications


The National Archives of the United Arab Emirates has enriched the Emirates Library with a large number of publications from the Muscat International Book Fair 2015. The new books are in the areas of concerns of the National Archives and its role in saving the history of the United Arab Emirates in particular and the history of the Gulf region in general. Therefore, the collections came within the framework of the research and the studies of the history of Oman, the Emirates, and Gulf heritage.
The National Archives has seized the opportunity to attend the 20th annual Muscat International Book Fair, which was a big demonstration and celebration of books, therefore it sent a number of specialists who took a long tour of the stands of the Omani and the foreign publishing houses participating in the exhibition, and brought with them books that deal with history, genealogy, proverbs, the Omani and UAE heritages, the Omani environment, historical coins the biographies of notable personalities, in addition to some of the books that deal with manuscripts, printing, historical geography, and the Omani historical encyclopedias. The National Archives has given a special attention to the books that deal with the historical aspects of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman, as these publications are of large importance to the researchers who visit the Emirates Library at the National Archives.
The number of publications brought to the Emirates Library were nearly 400 in both Arabic and English and all them are titles that the Emirates Library in the National Archives is really lacking.
It is noteworthy that the National Archives has participated with its publications specializing in the history and heritage of the UAE and the Gulf region within the inclusive participation of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development at the exhibition.
