The National Archives Organizes Two National Lectures in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain
The UAE’s National Archives organized two national lectures in Abu Dhabi and Al-Ain, which were attended by more than 1700 students.
The two lectures were given during the NA’s cultural season, which contributes to the sound national education for school students. It also enhances national identity elements and instills its values among the students as well as explaining to them national work basics.
The first lecture was attended by H. E. Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of school operations in ADEC, and by more than 700 students and teachers in Al Wathba Adult Educational Center in Abu Dhabi. The lecture topic was entitled Education and Its Role in Enhancing Good Citizenship. It emphasized the role of education in instilling the spirit of good citizenship and belonging to the nation and enhancing loyalty to its leaders and national symbols among youth and students. Education is considered as a bridge between students and their social and human contexts internally and externally. The lecture highlighted the leading role performed by the UAE’s institutions, without exception, in instilling patriotism and strengthening the loyalty culture among the community individuals.
Researcher Abdul Latif Al Sayadi handled the topic of the second lecture, which was entitled Identity, Loyalty and Belonging: Senior National Values. He delivered the lecture to about 1000 students and teachers from Al Muraijib School for the Basic and Secondary Education in Al Ain. He stressed on the importance of what he called “The Nation’s Triangle” represented in identity, loyalty, and belonging by which communities are enabled to achieve their unity, harmony, and human and civilizational development. Elements of geography, politics, and economy in addition to the community values and civilization are essential to the composition of a nation. Thus, it needs a special national culture, unique heritage, and historical characteristics that differentiate this nation from others. Citizens would carry such culture and characteristics proudly wherever they go and in confidence bearing in mind the directives of H. H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE: “… Any prejudice to national identity is a prejudice to the nation and a violation of its red lines. Whoever does not maintain an identity would not exist in the present nor in the future”.
