The National Archives Receives Integrated Management System Certificate PAS99: 2012

The National Archives received the certificate of Integrated Management System (IMS) as per the British standards PAS 99: 2012; thus, it has become one of the first government agencies to receive and maintain this international recognition.

This success comes after passing a series of audits of the Integrated Management System. This certificate grants the National Archives a global recognition in applying four management systems: ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, BS OHSAS 18001 Health and Occupational Safety System and IMS Integrated Management System and the Information Security System was upgraded from ISO 27001 of 2005 to ISO 27001 of 2013.

HE Dr. Abdulaziz Al Raisi, Deputy Technical Director of the National Archives, emphasized that passing of the audit processes is a clear evidence of the strict compliance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of the National Archives, to adopt the best standards of excellence and the latest global practices, to explore creativity and quality in all various sections and stages of work, and to keep abreast of the new developments to promote the mission of the NA for the preservation of the memory of the Nation and the protection of its identity and heritage.

Dr. Al Raisi said this certificate is a recognition of the status of the National Archives in comparison with the archives of developed countries. This renewal is a global testimony of the quality of the services of the National Archives in documenting the memory of the nation and preserving it for future generations.

Dr. Al Raisi added, “The successes the National Archives achieves are due to its staff members’ dedication of and their outstanding efforts. Its success in the renewal of Integrated Management System certificate will contribute to the enhancement of the performance level in order to adopt the best international standards and practices.”

This certification is granted by the British Standards Institution (BSI), which is the pioneering global organization in evaluating management systems and certification. The NA received this certification after all its sections and departments fulfilled all the global requirements and after strict tests to its work procedures and the standard requirements of each branch of this certification.
