The National Archives Awards the Winners of the 5th Annual Young Archivist Competition

Majid Al Mehairi, Executive Director of the UAE’s National Archives, awarded the winners of the 5th Annual Young Archivist Competition. During the awards ceremony, he assured that the Young Archivist Competition participants continuous development and spreading and achieving its objectives of deepening the national sense of identity among students. The competition makes students aware of their civilizational and cultural heritage and enhances their loyalty and belonging to the nation. This is in addition to supporting the relationship between generations and providing students with scientific research skills.
He added, “The Nation Archives realized the importance of preserving our heritage and history, of which we are proud. It considered the responsibility of preparing generations to achieve this mission as part of its responsibilities. Therefore, it strives to develop a sense of nationalism and research skills among the students in order to document the UAE’s history and its great leaders. The Young Archivist Competition was one of the beneficial methods in this regard. I would like to congratulate our daughters who won the prize of this year and I hope much more participation by schools, especially that these researches will be documented in the NA’s publications in the future. The NA has previously issued a series of schools trips, which are used by researchers as a reference for their scientific studies.”
The forum of the students who won the prize of the Young Archivist Competition was held at the NA’s premises on 21st April. Prizes and appreciation certificates were awarded to the winners.
The NA launched the first annual Young Archivist Competition in coordination with the Ministry of Education in the academic year 2009-2010. A new competition starts at the beginning of each year.
