The National Archives of the United Arab Emirates celebrated the signing of its latest book publication, Fifty Years in the Al Ain Oasis at the authors' section on the evening of 11 May, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Abdulla El Reyes, Director General of the National Archives. Author Abdul Hafeez Khan signed his book, which was published recently by the National Archives.
H.E. Dr. Abdulla El Reyes gave a presentation on the book, which was published in both Arabic and English. He explained that the National Archives of the United Arab Emirates recognized the importance of documenting the stages of development of agriculture and its spread from Al Ain to all parts of the UAE and how that made it an ideal green environment that captured the world’s admiration. The National Archives, by this move, is fulfilling its primary role in preserving and documenting the memory of the nation. Then Dr. El Reyes talked about the achievements of the founding leader Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan in agriculture and environment in the UAE and pointed out that was an evidence of his efforts and his exceptional genius in transforming the land of the UAE from desert to green pastures.
Dr. El Reyes added, “The book Fifty Years in the Al Ain Oasis is a documentation, in which the National Archives is always interested, of the vision and the agricultural and environmental mindset of Sheikh Zayed.” It is the practical translation of his words “Give me agriculture and I’ll warrant you a civilization”, and pointed out that this book is a testament of the dedication of the founding leader to his people and nation and of his life, which was filled with benevolence and giving.
The Director General of the National Archives congratulated the author on the great fruitful effort he exerted in writing his book when he was close to the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which is rich with information, documents, and historical photographs that were saved for future generations.
