The National Archives Participates in an International Training Course in Paris

The UAE’s National Archives recently participated in an international technical training course which specialized in archiving. The course was organized by the National Archives of France at its premises for a group of archivists across the world. The UAE is the first GCC country that participated for the first time in this course, which has been given for more than 50 years.
The NA’s participation in this course indicated its interest in having its employees acquainted with the modern and developed international archiving standards and improving their professional performance. The NA wants to obtain information from their sources, building on this information in accordance with the NA’s acquisitions, sharing specialized experiences and developing and strengthening relationships with archiving professionals and with the biggest archiving institutions in the world.
The international technical training course in archiving, hosted in Paris, included multiple specialized topics such as archives organization, documents restoration and management, digitizing, preserving and managing records and making them accessible in addition to the applications used and the records destruction system.
The course lasted for one month. It enabled the trainees to participate in symposiums and lectures and to study the archives of French government entities through field visits to the government entities, universities, and the archives of departments reporting to Paris Municipality. The visits were organized by the National Archives of France to enhance the theoretical aspects of the course with an applied experience in the archiving field. The course was an opportunity for the trainees to study and conduct standard benchmarking for the international archiving standards as well as becoming acquainted with the regulations and policies of the National Archives of France.
