The National Archives Concludes a Leadership Retreat Discussing Its Strategic Aspirations

The UAE’s National Archives concluded a leadership retreat held for developing its strategic plan for 2016-2018. The plan aims at developing leadership capabilities and corporate abilities that lead to innovation. It focused on identifying the priorities that help in achieving the NA’s vision, mission, and objectives.
The NA’s higher leadership, departments’ directors, and the strategic planning team held meetings on 8th – 9th March 2015 in Zabeel Saray Hotel in Dubai. The meetings discussed the elements of the strategic plan for the next three years, which is in line with the general agenda of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the UAE’s Vision 2021.
H.E. Abdulla El Reyes, Director General of the NA, expressed his confidence, in the opening speech, in the success of the leadership retreat held by the NA and its deliverables, especially that its agenda includes an evaluation of the previous and future projects promoting the archiving work concerned with collecting and preserving the memory of the nation for the generations. He stressed on the NA’s role in enhancing national identity and instilling national values as these are one of the most significant aspirations of the UAE’s Vision 2021.
H.E. added, “My confidence in the NA’s development and excellence comes from those patriots who are meeting at this retreat insisting on success to achieve the NA’s objectives, vision, and mission. We are looking forward to following the general policy of Abu Dhabi Government and the Federal Government, which emerges from the perfect vision of our wise leadership as it sets development plans that aim at achieving a leading position at all of the UAE’s different levels”.
Dr. El Reyes highlighted the importance of the leadership retreat and its results, which should be in line with the NA’s aspirations for a future that places the NA in a leading position with the archival institutions of the most developed countries in the world. He assured the importance of the next stage to the NA progress as it aims at aligning the archiving work with the international best practices at the regional levels.
The Director General emphasized the importance of innovation in 2015 and beyond in response to the Cabinet’s recently issued resolution. He pointed to the logical result stating that innovation is the normal development of the excellence stage, which the NA strives to achieve. In addition, he emphasized the importance of the next stage as the next strategic plan is in line with the UAE’s Vision 2021, which represents the leadership’s and people’s wishes.
It is worth mentioning that the NA had intensified its meetings and internal sessions before holding the leadership retreat in order to identify and discuss the needs of the next three years and develop the priorities in the form of a work plan for the next stage of 2016-2018.
