National Archive celebrates the 15th Night of Sha’aban

Today, the National Archives of the United Arab Emirates celebrated the Mid Shaaban Night. The NA is keen to celebrate this occasion because of its significant role in the revival of cultural and social heritage highlighting the bright-civilized side of the UAE, and demonstrates it to more than two hundred nationalities of Arab and foreign residents. This event is part of the social activities organized by the National Archives in order to promote the beautiful aspects of heritage in the hearts of the new generations and thus enhances the national identity.
On this occasion, the National Archives received a number of staff’s children dressed in traditional colorful costumes creating a cheerful atmosphere. The children distributed bags of candy and nuts and chanted folk songs.
The staff greeted the children at their offices and accepted their gifts, which were, preserved in UAE traditional heritage forms. The children continued their tour in the National Archives departments and sections, chanting traditional chanting special traditional song of the occasion: (Give us, and then Allah will give you and make it possible for you to reach Mecca).
Upon receiving and greeting the children, the acting director of the Corporate and Community Outreach Department said that the National Archives is keen to celebrate this traditional occasion annually for its status in Gulf heritage in general and in the UAE in particular as well as for the important role it plays in promoting heritage and national identity in the minds of the new generations. That is one of the leading objectives of the National Archives. She added saying: “This occasion highlights the importance of the Mid Shaaban Night and it also fills the hearts of adults with happiness by recollecting the joyful memories of childhood and spreading the spirit of love and union among the citizens of the society.
