The official sessions of the 12th biennial meeting of the UNESCO International Advisory Committee concluded today in Abu Dhabi. The meeting was held under the auspices of the National Archives of the United Arab Emirates in the period from October 4-6, 2015.
For his part, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, Mr. Bojan Radu Yakov in the name of all participants in the meetings of the IAC, expressed his deep thanks to the U.A.E. leadership, and to H.H. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Chairman of the National Archives. He also expressed his gratefulness for the sincere welcome and generous attention they received praising the outstanding organization and hospitality.
The 3rd day sessions of the MOW meeting concluded with approving decisions and recommendations, mainly approving 44 documents out of the 86 documents that were considered during the meeting for inscription in the MOW Register. Additionally, the reports of the marketing, research, and education and the technical sub-committees of the IAC were approved. 
The U.A.E. proposed to change the work mechanisms of the MOW comprehensively. It also suggested some amendments to the statute and rules of procedures as well as the inscription procedures in the Memory of the World. 
The meetings witnessed the formation of the Executive Bureau under the leadership of His Excellency Dr. Abdulla Elreyes, Chairman of the International Advisory Board of the Memory of the World Program. Furthermore, three deputies and three experts from different countries were appointed. The Executive Bureau is to convene on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 to develop a framework for the activities of Memory of the World program.
During the sessions, the  International Advisory Committee of  UNESCO Memory of the World discussed a proposal to hold a world summit for the program at the end of 2016, so that national committees, regional branches, and MOW specialized committees from all over the world meet with the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), and the International Council on Archives (ICA). Members agreed that the first World Summit will be held in Abu Dhabi at the end of 2016.
