The UAE National Archives received a delegation from Abu Dhabi Fund for Development to be acquainted with the National Archives’ activities, acquisitions and correspondence systems and to benefit from its experience in conserving historical documents and having them electronically archived.

The delegation expressed its desire to continue cooperation with the National Archives to learn more about the international standards followed in the conserving and archiving of the historical documents and save them electronically. According to its responsibility towards the future generations, the National Archives strives to electronically preserve the national historical records through electronic systems that are being constantly developed and changed. The guest delegation learnt about the methods of training employees on using the advanced digital systems and the methods of assessing the authenticity, importance and value of records.
Abu Dhabi Fund for Development’s delegation studied the National Archives’ modern systems used in documenting, following up and classifying internal and external correspondences into current, intermediate or historical documents as per their age and archiving them as well as the methods used in their disposal at the end of their life span.
The delegation, consisting of Khawla Al Kindi, Archive Coordinator, and Hamda Al Reyami, Senior Information Security Officer - took a tour in Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Hall, which is considered as a unique addition to the national efforts of preserving the Nation’s memory and a wide window through which a visitor can browse the UAE’s history and the journey to Union.
The delegation also visited the Presidential Archive Section, which deals with the photographs and videos that document the march of the Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the activities of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan at the local, regional, Arab and international levels. This is in addition to the historical photographs of the senior figures in the community in general, which are considered a valuable heritage that must be saved and handed over to next generations and made accessible to researchers and students.
